Software Engineer: Web/AJAX Developer

Our engineers have worked with our team of scientists to build the most advanced inventory management engine in the retail industry. On top of this engine, we have built an extremely rich and simple-to-use web interface using the latest technologies.  All of this is driven by a leadership team with an amazing history of successful retail software solutions delivery.

Things you’ll be doing:

  • (Primary) Designing, implementing and integrating web based user interfaces and other components
  • (Secondary) Help out with any other creative activities needed by a small evolving company

Philosophical fit:

  • Committed to meticulous, pixel-perfect, clean design for web
  • Strong belief in the importance of usability, formal usability background a plus
  • Strong belief in the incremental iterative development and test cycles (ala Test Driven Development and Continuous Integration).

Creative fit:

  • Solid understanding of information architecture, user interface design, and visual design theory and practice
  • Experience and understanding of the various platform constraints, web technologies, browser versions and other digital delivery platforms
  • Graphic Design skills a plus

Technical fit:

  • 3 years solid industry experience.
  • Bachelor’s or Masters in Computer Science or Software Engineering.
  • Intermediate-Expert level Java skills.
  • Experience deploying clean, efficient solutions utilizing Javascript, AJAX, and JSP.
  • Experience developing n-tier distributed web applications using Portals, Servlets, EJB, Spring, Hibernate, and JDBC.
  • Experience with one or more Web Application Frameworks: JSF, Wicket, Struts, Tapestry, Grails, Rails…
  • Practical experience using agile methods: SCRUM, Extreme Programming, Test Driven Development and Design
  • Experience with tools, technologies related to unit, system and regression testing of web applications.
  • Experience with Apache, Tomcat
  • Experience with at least one flavor of Unix – LINUX or Solaris preferred.
  • Experience using: Maven, Eclipse, Intellij IDEA, Subversion.
  • Database experience – Oracle, SQL, PL/SQL.
